Thanksgiving 2012

We spent Thanksgiving in New York City this year!  Kyle's brother, Jeff, and his wife, Ginger, live there and this year Kyle, Harper, myself and Kyle's parents decide to make the trip up and spend some time with them for Turkey day.

We flew in on Tuesday.  The flight was fine.  We actually had a direct flight from Austin, which was so nice!  We waited around the airport for a while for Jack and Sandra to arrive, then we had to take a LONG subway ride to Jeff and Ginger's home.  

Everyone was pretty worn out, but especially this little one.  She was passed out on the subway ride.  I love holding her while she's sleeping, since it's not something I get to do very often anymore.

This trip to New York City was pretty low key for a change.  We didn't try to fit in too many activities, which was pretty nice, since it was my first time in the city with a 2 year old!

On Wednesday morning, we trailed through Central Park, went to see "Uncle Jeffy's" office and went to the 911 Memorial.

9/11 Memorial.  I know I said it last time, but I feel like they did such a great job on the memorial.  It's definitely a somber place, but also a place of peace and quiet right in the middle of downtown.

She actually fell asleep for a while right after this.

After the 9/11 Memorial, we hopped on the subway all the way back uptown to Ginger's school.  We took a little tour of her classroom and then hit up the playground across the street.

Then back on the subway to head home.  Harper loved riding the "choo-choo train."

The floats for the parade the next day were being set up right by Jeff and Ginger's house.  It was pretty neat to be so close and I might have teared up a little:)  It's pretty surreal to be in the middle of it all after watching it for so many years on TV.  At this point, we were still iffy about braving the crowds to watch the parade the next morning, but seeing all the floats made us decide that we couldn't miss it!

We ended our busy day with dinner at the apartment and lots of relaxing.

Thursday morning, we were all up early to head out to the parade.  Most of us didn't have the best view since we didn't get there until 7:30, but we could still see a lot.  Harper could see everything!   She had the best seat:)

My favorite "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"

Have y'all seen that movie?  It's so cute and funny.  

I probably like it because I'm pretty sure it's the story of my husband's time in middle and high school:)

I wish I had some pictures from the rest of the day!  We did a lot of eating and laying around.  We cooked dinner at home and everything was delicious!

On Friday, we took Harper to FAO Schwartz and she had a blast!

Harper fell asleep shortly after FAO Schwartz, so we did a little more window shopping.

Emily came to hang out for the day!  Loved seeing her so much!

We ended the day with Shake Shack, cards, football and a few surprises from my Mother-in-Law;)

On Saturday, Kyle's Uncle and his wife met us for brunch.  It was so great to see them.  They are expecting a little one in February and we are so excited for them!

After brunch, Harper napped, then we made our long journey back to the airport and back home.  We were exhausted!  We had such a great time!  Thanks to Ginger and Jeff for being such gracious hosts!  Hope we can make it up again sometime soon!
