Galveston

Kyle had a board meeting in Galveston last week, and Harper and I got to join him.  We left right around nap time, so Harper slept most of the way there.

We stayed at Moody Gardens.  They have so much stuff for kids to do there!  It's on the bay, so we didn't spend much time at the beach, but Harper and I were almost as busy as Kyle trying to fit in all our activities (and naps:)).
When we got into town on Wednesday, we walked around the hotel grounds and went to visitors center.

Quick stop for a photo-op.

Kyle had a meeting and dinner that night, so Harper and I suited up and enjoyed our free passes to the water park.  They had a little splash pad, that Harper enjoyed for a while, although she didn't love it as much as the wave pool!  I had to drag her out of the wave pool kicking and screaming, only because watching her was wearing me out!  She kept going further and further out into the water.  She thought it was so much fun when the waves crashed in her face or pulled her under.  She would jump with excitement when the buzzer went off that meant the waves were coming!  It kind of made me a nervous wreck, so we spent our last hour at the manmade beach and sharing some dip-n-dots.  I used to love those as a kid, but I would much rather have the real thing now.

The next morning, we went to the aquarium.  Oh my, Harper was in rare form that morning!  She had so much energy!  She kept yelling to everyone "Look!  Fish!"  And she kept yelling at the fish (and seals, and sea-lions, and octopuses, and sharks) "Stay!  Sit!  Speak!"

Checking out the fish.

Harper was trying to climb into the tank!

We loved the penguins!

After the aquarium, we came across an empty bouncy house!  What better way to get some of the energy out before nap time?

After our (glorious) naps, we went to the pool for a little while.  The hotel had a pretty nice pool with lots of stairs for Harper to play on, although she thinks she is Michael Phelps with her puddle jumper on and she swims all over the place.  We only had a little bit of time at the pool because we had to get ready to meet Kyle for a reception.

She couldn't stop looking in the mirror while we were getting ready:)

Harper got her own name tag for the reception.
So cute!

She is "posing" in this one.
Haha!

On Friday, Kyle had to work half of the day, so Harper and I spent some time on the playground and again in the bouncy house.  Then, we all took a long nap and headed to the beach.  Texas beaches aren't the prettiest, but Harper didn't know the difference and she LOVED it!

On the playground.
She has to wear her hat a lot since we're still working on hair!

I don't have many pics of the beach because we were too busy playing and trying to keep Harper from going out too far!

We came back to the pool for a little bit after the beach to get rid of some sand and Harper tried to walk in her Daddy's shoes:)

After the pool, we all cleaned up and went out to dinner.  Since we rarely eat out as a family, it's always a treat for us.  Unfortunately, Harper was fussy and tired from a long day and the overly aggressive birds really wanted my fish tacos!

So ladylike!

Our view at dinner.

Harper woke up at 3:30 the next morning with a crick in her neck.  She slept on me until time to get up and go.  She was feeling pretty pitiful, so I rode in the back with her on the way home.

Poor Baby:(

Luckily, she slept most of the way again.
With her purse over her shoulder:)
She still can't turn her head all the way to the right side!

We ended up cutting our trip short because we didn't want Moose to have to stay at the kennel for too long.  It was the first time we ever boarded him.  I guess he's still our baby, because we were so worried about him the whole time.  He did great, of course.

Now, we're ready for fall!  Kind of.  I am really going to miss seeing Harper in her summer "uniform."

Pointing out airplanes.
My little girly-girl is all of a sudden obsessed with cars, trucks, airplanes and trains!

Thanks Kyle and TAA for letting us tag along on your trip!

  3. Love this post! So much fun to get away as a little family! It's hard being on the rode though isn't it?! Whew! At least she sleeps in the car. For the last 4 or 5 car rides, Annie has only slept 1 hour no matter how long the trip. Ahh! And I ride in the back a lot too!

Harper sounds like she is hilarious right now! Love all her excitement and energy! We can't wait to see you in January if not before!
